About the Artist
Evin Felix, maiden name Evin Schuler, grew up in Prairie Village, Kansas. Daughter to an illustrator and an art teacher, Evin was immersed in art from a young age. Little did she know that completing her first oil painting at the age of 8 years old would mark the beginning of her lifelong journey and career as an oil painter.
Evin received her BFA from the University of Kansas in 2006. Evin finds inspiration everywhere. In a time when we are bombarded with images of ugliness, violence, and destruction, her goal as an artist is to depict the natural, understated beauty that still exists in our world. Many of her paintings are renderings of photos that she has taken at home and abroad. Whether it's a boat resting calmly on a glassy sea or a quiet expansive landscape, Evin strives to artfully depict feelings of peace and beauty in her work.
In 2009, Evin married her dear husband Richard Felix. She continues to paint as much as possible, but finds herself spending the majority of her time working on her two greatest masterpieces in life thus far: sons Oliver (born 2011) and Zeke (born 2014).
Why the Name "Evin Schuler Oils"?
Evin began painting years ago as Evin Schuler. Though Evin married in 2009 and took the name Evin Felix, she continues to sign all of her artwork with the signature Evin Schuler. Evin's greatest mentor and teacher was her father and brilliant illustrator, Mark Schuler (1951-2015). To honor his legacy and to feel his presence in her work, she will forever sign her pieces with the name Schuler. So there you have it... Evin Schuler Oils.
